pMon is a unique power monitoring product , developed by IDC Solutions in response to data centres’ need to know, and accurately bill, the power individual clients use.
Simple to install, with no down time, pMon measures the energy used by every live feed on the rack. The information is sent to a data-gathering module, where it is processed and analysed. You can select from a range of pre-set reports, or create your own, to track, control and charge for power use.
The result is simple, reliable cost recovery, plus the information you need to run your system at maximum efficiency, benefiting both you and the environment.
pMon offers you:
- continual data logging of power information
- usage monitoring and billing
- load management planning
- power factor monitoring
pMon records:
- energy consumption (KWh)
- real power (KW)
- reactive power (KVAR)
- apparent power (KVA)
- power factor (PF)
- line voltage (V)
- current amps (A)
Key benefits
The key benefits of the pMon implementation are as follows:
- Measurement through all Power Feeds to each Rack
- Instant visibility of Single and Three Phase Parametrics, namely
- Voltages
- Currents
- Apparent Power, Real Power and Reactive Powers
- Power Factors
- Energy Consumptions
- Reporting Facilities in Tabular and Graphical Formats
- Optional Features such as alarming for failure conditions
Enablers
Such parametric analysis has enabled Telstra to:
- Bill clients for actual power consumed
- Identify clients with poor power factor
- Readily identify clients using power in excess of their contractual arrangement
- Integrate power usage data with existing customer billing systems
- Archive and store power monitoring data for review
Load management planning (lmp)
In addition, pMon is invaluable for Load Management Planning (LMP), in particular:
- Showing power usage by client, rack and power feed
- Hone in on power usage problems to level of individual feed to a rack
- Facilitate load planning and load balancing
- Monitor power factor to assist in the implementation of green policies
- Create exception reports on excessive or change in power usage
